SUMMARY:🍎 Student Training Session OCT 2021
DESCRIPTION:Learn How to Connect with Older Adults and Plan Intergenerational Programs\n\n\n\nDue to the ongoing need to remain safe during the COVID-19 pandemic\, we are still unable to meet in person. Social distancing that prevents the spread of the virus leads to loneliness\, also a health risk. Student volunteers will meet via Zoom to learn basic principles of aging and best practices for connecting with older adults. This 60-minute session will prepare student volunteers to participate in Link Generations programs with older adults during the school year\, including starting and/or joining Link Generations Clubs. Students will learn best practices for engaging in interactive conversations with older adults about common interests\, each other’s experiences\, and helping each other feel a sense of social connections. Examples of discussion themes include music through the ages\, teaching technology skills (show off your Smartphone and App skills)\, and favorite hobbies.
